Following their kick-off gig at the Clapham Grand on Wednesday, Fevertree will be performing tonight at The Kings Head in Fulham, and they will undoubtedly play their cool cover rendition of "Friday I'm in Love". This debut tour for Fevertree is a big one to test the overseas waters in preparation for an international explosion.
Also gearing up for their first European experience is Harris Tweed who will be touring Europe from 19 Sept, and finishing in London on 25 Sept at Halfmoon in Putney! And what do both Fever tree and Harris Tweed have in common? Well besides both bands coming to play London for their first ever time, both bands also supported American emo band Fall Out Boy when they played in South Africa!
Also up this weekend for a quest Sunday Jam slot at Filthy’s in Twickenham is Josie Field, described as a mix between Beth Orton and Alanis Morissette, she looks almost goth-like, and kinda like Nemi from the Metro daily cartoon, long and lean and firmly aware of who she is behind her guitar. So what do Josie Field and Harris Tweed have in common? Well, both are linked to SA indie label Just Music.
So many musical linkages in SA Music without even trying!
Also on this weekend we have Jak de Priester at Aardvark and if the sun shines, get on out to the Thames River Festival…
… and for those back in SA, there is a big SA music festival on the go tomorrow in Randburg and sponsored by Highveld Stereo. Simply called Joburg Day, with tickets at a mere R150 (that’s £10 for all that great SA Music!!), people can see the usual SA greats of Prime Circle, Parlotones, Wonderboom, Freshlyground and Watershed as well as some oldies in Mango Groove who will be playing to Joburg audiences for the first time in a long time! Kurt Darren and Doctor Victor will also be there on the day!
Rock On SA Music,
x
