The 8th year begins today...

For me atleast - the 8th year for me in the UK that is...

Wow, on waking up yesterday and realising that it was 8 years earlier that I first boarded a plane bound for the ever exciting UK - full of anticipation and angst!

Would they have the shampoo I use? The veggies I eat? Transport systems I'd understand? Well - on the veggie front I was sad to discover that two of my favourites were not to be common in my shopping trolley - these being guavas and gem squashes! As for the transport, after spending our first night way up north at the end of the Victoria Line in Walthamstow - we were told 'the only thing you need to remember about the tube is whether you're going north or south bound, east or west...' And I havent looked back since! (As for the buses, well that took about two years to learn :)

And as for the shampoo I use - well that has changed many times and the heavy bottles I lugged over from SA were not needed! I have now gone back and forth to SA regularly, at least once a year, sometimes two! I very much adore South Africa - my family and friends who still there, the SA music scene more than ever and the sunshine!!

Having just returned from a month long trip on Monday - I am actually missing it more than normal. And on the music side - Im gonna give you an overview of what happened down there in the month I was observing and engaging in all things SA music!

More to follow on my month in SA - hot acts coming out of SA - and April promises to hot up on the gig blog posts too! So keep coming back for more about great SA music!

Rock on SA music,
x
